John Hock

Barry Dargan

Portfolio Manager

Barry is the lead portfolio manager and has 12 years of experience as a global equity portfolio manager and 33 years’ experience as an investment professional.

Barry was previously Partner, Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at Artisan Partners where he set up, managed and was sole decision maker on their Global Equity strategy and opened the London office.

Prior to this, Barry was a Managing Director and Portfolio Manager at MFS Investment Management with approximately US$6 billion under his management. He opened their Tokyo office and also worked in London and Boston. Barry had a strong track record of consistent outperformance during his 12 years as Portfolio Manager of the Funds.

Prior to this, he had various investment analyst roles in London and Tokyo and started his career at Arthur Andersen as a Chartered Accountant in London.

Barry is a Chartered Accountant, has a BSc degree in economics from City University, London and has a certificate in Japanese language fluency from Keio University, Tokyo.

John DeVita

Chris Smith

Investment Analyst

Chris is an investment analyst with 16 years’ investment experience and covers consumer sectors. Working alongside Barry at Artisan Partners in London, he was a global sector analyst.

Prior to this he worked for investment managers in the US covering drug retail and healthcare distribution, global consumer sectors and consumer finance companies.

Chris holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BBA in Business Administration from University of Michigan and is a CFA charter holder.

Rehan Chaudhri

Nicholas Midgley

Investment Analyst

An investment analyst focussed on the capital goods sector, Nicholas has 12 years of investment experience. Previously working at Artisan Partners in London, Nicholas was a Global Sector Analyst. He also covered European capital goods as an Analyst at Jeffries, London.

Nicholas holds a CFA qualification and an MA in economics from Cambridge University.

James Kim

Investment Analyst

James is an Investment Analyst covering technology stocks and has 16 years of investment experience working in New York and Tokyo. Prior to Intermede, James worked for Fidelity Management Research in Japan.

James holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BSc in Business Administration from University of California at Berkeley.

Charles Cooper

Investment Analyst

As an Investment Analyst Charles completes the team's research capability.

Charles was previously employed at Berenberg Bank in London as an Associate Analyst covering biotech/mid‐cap pharmaceutical companies with direct coverage of 14 European firms.

Charles is a CFA charter holder and holds a BSc in Chemistry and Management from Newcastle University.

Rupert Mahon

Chief Operating Officer

Rupert graduated with an LLB (Hons) from the University of Wales and qualified as a lawyer in 1999, practising in corporate and financial law for several years following qualification. In addition, Rupert holds the Investment Administration Qualification (IAQ) from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment.

Rupert joined Intermede Investment Partners in November 2015 as Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for all non-investment aspects of the business. Before joining Intermede, Rupert was COO at Bramshott Capital, a European equity manager, from January 2011 to October 2015. Rupert was at Stanhope Capital for nearly a year and a half (until December 2010) and before that at Dalton Strategic Partnership for over three and half years until September 2009. He joined Dalton from Park Place Financial Strategy, a financial services firm he founded with a partner from his days working as a lawyer, where he was from February 2004 to December 2005.

Richard Thompson

Investment Analyst

Richard is an investment analyst with 11 years investment experience and covers global financials sectors. Richard was previously employed at Gladstone Partners in London as an investment analyst with a focus on financial, technology and telecommunication companies (2013-2015). Prior experience includes as an investment banking associate in the Financial Institutions Group at Deutsche Bank, London (2010-2013) and at Ernst and Young, London in the Valuations and Business Modelling Group (2008-2009) and Banking and Capital Markets Assurance Services (2005-2008).

Richard holds a BA in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Sheffield and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.
